The Nutcracker
this weekend was The Nutcracker. we had rehearsals all week and then dress rehearsal friday night. the kids and i missed the only weekly rehearsals we had. i don't know how but we just couldn't make it every time. dress rehearsal was about it.
anyways, we had nutcracker performance and lisa absolutely wanted both lil' d and tubbs to be a part of the party scene. i was so excited because amaya has done it the last 2 years and this would be derek's star debut.
i was a little nervous about being on stage with them;
would amaya want to talk the whole time?
scream if she couldn't be on the stage doing, "her thing?"
how would derek react?
what if amaya tries to run in circles?
or better yet, has a tantrum on stage!
ballet is supposed to be a silent type of performance not one with toddlers running around being toddlers.
my mom and sister came to help backstage. during the scenes that we weren't in amaya just watched in ama
zment saying, "ohhh pretty!
and, " look! WOW!!"
derek was being derek. silent and just hanging around.
when it was our time to go on we just free styled the whole thing.
my "husband" made sure to pretend to walk in out other "children" so i could run off with amaya on stage. it was hilarious she loved it and walked in on her toes just like all the little girls.
at the end of the scene my "husband" carried baby derek out because amaya refused to walk and insisted on laying on my shoulder. either she got it that it was the sleepy scene or she really was tired at that moment. the whole thing was very believable especially to all the moms who had children. so i was told.
at one point for some reason there was a glitch in the music. there was a small silence while the girls waited to dance. i was backstage trying to keep amaya from crawling onto the stage with them (she was trying extremely hard to get on stage with everyone). out of the blue (and silence) she yells, "UH OH, WHA HAPPE?
in the 2nd performance amaya caught on that people were watching so she ran out on her toes spun in circles and waved to the audience. in the end we forgot derek so the "husband" had to run off to get him. the poor kid had no idea what was going on. but i don't think he really cared.
i can't wait to see what next years performance brings.

So I Thought
i decided to give derek some rice cereal for the first time!
i completely thought that he would sleep longer than 3 hours a night,
be full through the night
and stop wanking.
wrong.
just gave him more food for his piggy lifestyle.
it was very cute feeding him though.
and i'm sad he's that much older now.
my baby is getting so big.
amaya also is now into decorating christmas trees.
she's such a big helper.
well nothing broke
so i'm assuming she in the clear for a potential job as a tree decorater.
